Taylor Hicks scanned his view atop the Vegas desert during a phone interview with the News Journal, and said, “It will be good to be on the coast. The sand doesn’t look nearly as good from where I’m standing as it does on the beach.”

Even though Hicks commands a headlining gig in Vegas and worldwide success including a Grammy Award, platinum-selling albums, appearances on Broadway and winning season 5 of “American Idol,” he said his heart will always be on the Gulf Coast. He returns to the region to headline the Flora-Bama Lounge and Package Store’s first Shindig on the Sand this weekend...
